If you’re looking for a way to practice your French language skills in Winnipeg while enjoying some great Canadian short films, make your way down to the 2014 Short Film Competition at the annual Cinémental festival.
Cinémental is touted as one of Western Canada’s oldest French film festivals. It proudly screens a variety of French-speaking films from Canada, Europe, Africa and from other parts of the world. This year’s short film competition will be held on October 19 at 1 pm in the Antoine-Gaborieau Room at the CCFM, located at 340 Provencher Boulevard.
And…the event is free!
Three categories of French language Canadian shorts will be featured, including amateur, professional and Kino. For a list of the line-up, click on this link: http://www.cinemental.com/festival_2014/courtsmetrages_en.html
All of these films will be in French, and some will offer English subtitles. This will be an excellent opportunity to appreciate the various styles of these French-Canadian film makers. Bon festival!
